IVF WITH GENETIC TESTING (PGT) in TURKEY

What Is PGT?

Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT) is an advanced procedure performed during an IVF cycle to evaluate the genetic health of embryos before they are transferred to the uterus.

After fertilization, embryos are allowed to develop in the laboratory. At a specific stage of development, a small number of cells are carefully biopsied and analyzed in a specialized genetic laboratory. This testing helps identify chromosomal abnormalities or specific inherited genetic conditions.

PGT supports informed embryo selection and may increase the chances of a healthy pregnancy in selected medical cases.

Who May Benefit from PGT?

PGT may be recommended in the following situations:

  • Advanced maternal age

  • Recurrent miscarriage

  • Repeated IVF failure

  • Known genetic disorders in one or both partners

  • Chromosomal abnormalities in either partner

  • Severe male factor infertility

  • Previous history of genetically affected pregnancy

The decision to perform PGT is made after a detailed fertility evaluation and genetic counseling when necessary.

How Does the PGT Process Work?

The process follows a structured protocol within an IVF cycle:

Initial Evaluation
Medical history, fertility assessments, and genetic risk factors are reviewed.

IVF or ICSI Cycle
Egg retrieval and fertilization are performed as part of a standard IVF treatment.

Embryo Development
Embryos are cultured in the laboratory for approximately 5 days until they reach the blastocyst stage.

Embryo Biopsy
A few cells are carefully removed from each suitable embryo without damaging its developmental potential.

Genetic Analysis
The biopsied cells are analyzed in a specialized laboratory to detect chromosomal abnormalities or specific genetic mutations.

Embryo Selection & Transfer
Embryos identified as chromosomally normal are selected for transfer in a fresh or frozen embryo cycle.

Types of PGT

  • PGT-A (Aneuploidy Screening) – Detects chromosomal abnormalities

  • PGT-M (Monogenic Testing) – Screens for specific inherited genetic diseases

  • PGT-SR (Structural Rearrangements) – Evaluates structural chromosomal changes

Your fertility specialist determines which testing method, if any, is medically appropriate.

Benefits of IVF with PGT

  • Supports informed embryo selection

  • May reduce miscarriage risk in selected cases

  • Helps identify embryos without chromosomal abnormalities

  • Can improve implantation outcomes in specific medical situations

It is important to note that PGT does not guarantee pregnancy, but it may optimize embryo selection in medically indicated cases.

Why Choose Turkey for IVF with PGT?

Turkey offers advanced embryology laboratories, experienced reproductive specialists, and internationally accredited fertility centers.

High laboratory standards, modern technology, and structured medical protocols contribute to a safe and organized treatment process.

How Long Does IVF with PGT Take?

A standard IVF cycle with PGT typically follows the same stimulation and egg retrieval timeline as conventional IVF (approximately 12–17 days). If embryos are frozen for genetic testing results, transfer may take place in a subsequent cycle.
